Celebrating One Year of Warm Hospitality in Marlborough
Nestled among the vines in the heart of Marlborough’s wine country, St Leonards Vineyard Cottages offers more than just a place to stay. It provides an experience that combines charm, comfort, and a strong connection to the local area. This boutique collection of cottages has welcomed travelers from around the world for years, and now, after a year under the care of new owners Jason and Sharon, it’s thriving more than ever.

Jason and Sharon took over St Leonards Vineyard Cottages just over a year ago, and in that time, they’ve had the pleasure of hosting more than 900 guests. Each one has added to the growing community of people who appreciate the personal touch and authenticity of this special place. As they reflect on their first year, they’re already gearing up for the year ahead. Winter has been busy with both international and domestic guests, and the upcoming summer season looks even busier.

At St Leonards, comfort is key. The team is always working to improve the experience for guests, and that includes upgrading the cottages. For example, The Stables cottage now has a new, comfy bed, and the wooden floor has been replaced with soft loop-pile carpet. Plus, every cottage now features 100% New Zealand wool blankets and throws—perfect for those chilly Marlborough nights.

A favorite among guests is the in-cottage dining experience. After a day of exploring, you can enjoy a range of delicious options without leaving the comfort of your cottage. Ready-to-heat meals, BBQ packs, and local platters are available, alongside a curated list of premium boutique wines from Marlborough’s renowned wineries. It’s the perfect way to enjoy the region’s flavors without stepping out the door.
Sharon has also been busy working on a personal project—a custom line of handcrafted dinnerware. After creating over 300 coffee cups for a local business conference, she’s now turning her talents to crafting plates, bowls, tumblers, and more. Soon, guests will be able to dine on beautiful, unique ceramic pieces made right on the property. For those who fall in love with the design, Sharon’s pottery is also available for purchase at reception.
What makes St Leonards so special is its connection to the land and the local area. Set on 4.5 acres of peaceful farmland and parkland, the property offers privacy and serenity while being just a short drive from Marlborough Airport and central Blenheim. Guests can explore the grounds, meet the resident animals (sheep, deer, hens, and ducks), and take in the stunning views of nearby vineyards and mountains.
The cottages themselves are a blend of historic charm and modern comfort. Originally traditional farm buildings, they’ve been thoughtfully renovated to create a welcoming and stylish environment for guests. Whether you’re relaxing indoors or strolling through the gardens, the atmosphere at St Leonards captures the essence of Marlborough’s beauty.
If you’re looking for a relaxed, boutique escape in one of New Zealand’s most celebrated wine regions, St Leonards Vineyard Cottages is the perfect place to stay. With warm hospitality, a personal touch, and a setting that combines rural tranquility with easy access to Marlborough’s top attractions, it’s an ideal base for an unforgettable getaway.
